Tallanstown National School, Dundalk, Co. Louth registered with the Green-Schools Programme in 1999 and to date have already been awarded Green Flags for the Litter and Waste, Energy and Water Themes.
They are currently working hard towards achieving their fourth Green Flag, for the Travel Theme. As part of the Travel Programme, Tallanstown National School held a WOW (Walk on Wednesday) Day on Wednesday 4th May, 2011. The day was a brilliant success and the school even organised a human bar chart in their yard to illustrate how many children used sustainable forms of transport to travel to school that day!
Tallanstown were also the overall winners of the Tidy Towns 2010. President McAleese will visit the school this Saturday where the pupils will get a chance to show the President all their hard work!
